The Bishnumati Corridor Emergency Rescue Operation
Following the demolition along the Bishnumati Corridor, T.F.C. Nepal launched an emergency rescue mission. Our team navigated the dangerous debris to save displaced community dogs, bringing them from the hazardous rubble to safety for immediate food and veterinary care.
Following the local authority clearance and demolition of makeshift settlements along the Bishnumati River banks, displaced community dogs were left without reliable food sources or shelter. Our team entered the debris zones to ensure these animals received immediate nutritional relief and care during the transition period.
The structural clearance and eviction drive along the Bishnumati Corridor Sukumbasi Basti left behind vast fields of rubble, overturned corrugated iron sheetings, and fragmented timber. While the human residents shifted to alternative arrangements or holding facilities, the localized street dogs and community animals that relied entirely on these neighborhoods for survival suddenly found themselves exposed, disoriented, and without food.
Recognizing the urgent threat of starvation and injuries from sharp demolition debris, T.F.C. Nepal sent a rapid-response team directly into the impacted zones. Equipped with high-nutrition meals, fresh water, and basic veterinary assessment kits, our volunteers moved systematically through the piles of rubble to locate, feed, and check on the well-being of the area's canine population.
Beyond providing immediate nourishment, the team monitored the animals for physical injuries, cuts from shattered materials, and signs of extreme distress. By maintaining a visible presence in these cleared corridors, T.F.C. Nepal aims to act as a safety net for vulnerable urban animals caught in the middle of major city redevelopments.
